eDP 1.4 Signal Module Model A040205

eDP (Embedded DisplayPort) is a display interface standard defined by VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) specifically for embedded applications. The A040205 complies with the eDP 1.4 specification and supports up to 4-lane output. Users can configure different lane rates (1.62 / 2.16 / 2.43 / 2.7 / 3.24 / 4.32 / 5.4 Gbps) based on the resolution requirements of the device under test (DUT).

For critical signal transmission testing, the A040205 allows users to configure Training Modes including Full, Fast, and No Training. It supports adjustable settings for Lane Count, Swing Level, and Pre-Emphasis, enabling simulation of signal deviations from standard output values for margin and limit testing of the device under test (DUT).

  • Lane Count: 1 / 2 / 4 / 8 lanes
  • Pre-Emphasis: 0 / 3.5 / 6 / 9.5 dB
  • Swing Level: 250 / 300 / 350 / 400 / 450 / 550 / 600 / 700 / 750 / 800 / 850 / 900 / 950 / 1000 / 1050 / 1100 mV

The A040205 supports selection between color depths of 6, 8 and 10 bits for testing. For instance, with a 10-bit color depth, each primary color is divided into 1024 levels (210), allowing for approximately 1.07 billion different colors to be displayed (210 R × 210 G × 210 B). This enables you to customize your inspection application as needed.

Power, signal, and control pins can be activated independently, with user-defined timing adjustable in 1ms increments. Users can freely configure lead/lag timing for power, signal, and control outputs, including customized shutdown sequences.

Panel Self-Refresh (PSR) is a technology designed to reduce system power consumption by halting both image transmission and display updates when the system is in a static state, effectively extending battery life in mobile devices. For example, when a smartphone displays a static home screen, signal transmission stops, and the panel's internal memory autonomously refreshes the image. To achieve this function, both the transmitter and receiver must support PSR. The transmitter notifies the receiver via the Main Link (which controls image data) when a static frame is sent. The receiver then stores the frame in its internal memory and continues to display it through the RFB Controller, allowing the transmitter to stop sending image data. This process helps achieve energy savings and reduce overall device power consumption.

The latest generation, PSR2 (Panel Self-Refresh 2), further improves efficiency by supporting selective updates, refreshing only specific portions of the screen. The transmitter identifies the region that requires updating and notifies the receiver, so only that area is refreshed. This means the graphics processor only needs to send a minimal amount of updated data. PSR2 also supports Advanced Link Power Management (ALPM), which allows the receiver to quickly exit standby or sleep states as needed. With the A040205, users can precisely specify and position the target region to be updated for selective-update testing. (Optional)

The A040205 is equipped with VDD over-voltage protection (OVP) and over-current protection (OCP). Users can define custom protection threshold values, and if the voltage or current measured on the DUT exceeds the set limits during output, the protection mechanism will be triggered immediately to prevent potential damage. To avoid unintended triggering caused by inrush current during power-on, the module also includes a Protection Delay Time function, ensuring stable testing without interruption.

The A040205 is equipped with under-voltage protection (UVP) and under-current protection (UCP) for the VDD supply. These features allow real-time monitoring to ensure that the voltage and current of the DUT do not fall below the user-defined thresholds from initialization through completion. This is particularly useful for identifying conditions such as components not reaching their operating range or abnormal circuit behavior at the lower operational limits.

Equipped with a smart fan system, the module continuously monitors temperature changes and automatically adjusts fan speed to maintain optimal operating temperatures. This helps reduce ambient noise in the working environment while prolonging the device’s lifespan.

ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) damage to electronic products has been an ongoing challenge to address. During regular use, ESD may cause instability and sudden functional anomalies. To avoid damage caused by ESD during IC production, A291803 features IEC/EN 61000-4-2 compliant ESD protection capability (15kV Air / 8kV Contact Discharge) and includes built-in ESD protection circuits, providing complete protection against ESD impact.

During frequent cable changes in repetitive testing scenarios, output connectors are prone to damage. The A040205 enhances the durability of its output connectors by adopting a pressure plate mounting design, which firmly secures the connector to the chassis. This structure effectively distributes external mechanical stress, reduces the risk of damage, and extends the overall service life of the equipment.

The A040205 eDP signal module is designed with a push-and-rotate knob mechanism, allowing it to be securely installed into Chroma flat panel display testers. This tool-free design enables operators to easily attach or detach the module by hand, significantly improving efficiency for test configuration changes and troubleshooting.
